Im getting a macbook pro, and have some questions?
Hi, I am getting a macbook pro for Christmas and I just had a couple of questions relating to the actual physical laptop and converting from windows to the Mac os:
- How easily is the macbook pro damaged or scratched? Should I buy one of the clear hard cases for it? Or would a laptop sleeve be ok? And what about a screen protector?
- Does getting personalized etchings/engravings and stickers (NOT from the apple store) void the warranty?
- Do common windows files (Like jpegs,mp3, wma, gif, doc, etc) work on a mac?
- AND finally; Is it worth the extra $300 for the 2.66 GHZ processor as apposed to the 2.4 GHZ processor?

Hey ummm you did not answer my question. I have already gone through the mac vs windows decision and I decided on a mac, my decision, it is what I want, so shut up and if you cant answer my question, then dont!

It's not any more suseptable to damage than any other laptop. The hard cases tend to make the computer run hot. Just get a good sleeve and remember to use it all the time. No screen protection is needed.
- Does getting personalized etchings/engravings and stickers (NOT from the apple store) void the warranty?
No. But you won't be able to return it.
- Do common windows files (Like jpegs,mp3, wma, gif, doc, etc) work on a mac?
Yes, but...for doc to work you'll need to have MS Word installed (just like on a PC). wma files won't work out of the box. you'll need to download a simple extension for Quicktime called Flip4Mac.
- AND finally; Is it worth the extra $300 for the 2.66 GHZ processor as apposed to the 2.4 GHZ processor?
Depends on how you use the computer, but unless you're heavy into video editing, I'd say save the money.
